REGISTRATION for Talent Participants
1:30-2:00pm| Main Lobby
This registration time is for participants in the Talent Showcase. Upon arrival, participants will drop off their cans, check-in with our volunteer staff, and paired with their Buddy for the day. Buddies will direct participants to an area where they can place their items for the day and will escort them to the stage for Talent Practice. Participants and Parents/Guardians will have the opportunity to purchase tickets, programs, and merchandise at this time. Parents/Guardians are not required to stay, but are encouraged to attend Orientation at 3:00pm. *Note: if participants have bathrooming or medical needs, parents/guardians are required to assist with these areas. Volunteers are not necessarily trained to cover these needs.*
1:30 - 2:45pm | Stage
For participants in the Talent Showcase, this will be the opportunity to practice their talent on stage, as well as practicing the logistics of the event. Buddies will escort them to the stage and stand backstage until the participant's talent practice is complete.
REGISTRATION for Participants not in talent
2:00-2:45pm | Main Lobby
This registration time is for participants not in the Talent Showcase. Upon arrival, participants will drop off their cans, check-in with our volunteer staff, and paired with their Buddy for the day. Buddies will direct participants to an area where they can place their items for the day. Buddies and participants can spend this time getting to know each other or can make their way to the auditorium for orientation. Participants and Parents/Guardians will have the opportunity to purchase tickets, programs, and merchandise at this time. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to stay for the Orientation at 3:00pm. *Note: if participants have bathrooming or medical needs, parents/guardians are required to assist with these areas. Volunteers are not necessarily trained to cover these needs.*
3:00 - 3:30 | Auditorium
During this time, participants, buddies, and parents/guardians will hear more information about South Dakota Miss Amazing and the event schedule for the day from the State Director. The different aspects and requirements will be explained and any questions will be answered at this time. After Orientation, parents/guardians may leave if they wish.
4:00 - 4:30pm | Hallway
At this time, participants will write and practice their introductions with their Buddy. These introductions will be what the participants use to give information about themselves to the audience during the Final Show.
Interview Line Up
4:45 - 5:00pm| Interview Waiting Room
Participants in the Teen division will be escorted by their Buddy to the interview waiting room. There will be activities available to occupy the time prior to their interview. Here they will be lined up in the order they will be interviewed.
5:00 - 5:30pm| Interview Room
During this portion of the event, participants will spend 90 seconds with each of the 5 judges, answering questions about themselves. Judges will take into account varying communication needs and levels. Participants may use communication devices and/or a person who knows them well to assist with answering the questions. Once participants are done, they may go to the Front Lobby for dinner.
5:30 - 6:00pm| Front Lobby
Dinner will be provided for buddies, volunteers, and participants.
Hair and Make-up
6:00 -6:30 pm| Make-up Room
Buddies will escort their participant to the make-up room to have their hair and make-up done at this time. There will also be activities available for participants as they wait their turn.
FINAL SHOW LINE UP
6:30 -7:00pm| Backstage
Everyone participating in the Talent Showcase will need to be in their outfits at this time. Buddies will help participants line up in the correct spot and will stay with them the entire time.
The participants in the Talent Showcase will be first. Their Buddies will escort them onto the stage and remain backstage until the participant has completed their talent. Once complete, Buddies will bring them backstage, help them change out of their talent outfit if needed, and help them return to the correct place in line for their introduction/skill on stage. During the first aspect of the Final Show, participants will walk onto the stage with their age division and buddy. They will introduce themselves using the information they have practiced during the Skills Practice. Their buddy will stand behind them for support and help if they need it. Participants will then return backstage and line-up for the evening wear portion. In the evening wear portion of the event, participants are escorted onto the stage by a right-hand man. The final portion is the awards ceremony where participants come out in their age divisions and receive their medals, trophies, and crowns.
